Fall Ball - General Information and FAQs (subject to change):

  • When is the season, where do we play, and what does it include?
    • The season will run from August through early November including one or two weekly practices (coach preference), one weekday game and one weekend game. Teams are formed early August, practices begin immediately, and games start after Labor Day (9/2/19).
    • Games will be played at various little leagues within District 54.
    • The cost of registration is $115 and players will receive team shirt & cap from the league. Pants, socks, and belts will not be provided by the league and your coach will provide information on the color of these non-league provided items. There is a $10 sibling discount.
  • What’s the difference between Fall Ball and Spring Baseball?
    • Spring baseball is the regular season with divisions in Juniors, Majors, Minors, Farm, and T-Ball. The competitive divisions: Minors- Juniors teams are drafted by managers, scores-standings are kept, and the season runs from February- early June.
    • Fall Ball is for players Minors (League Age 8)- Juniors (League Age 14). Check the league age chart to verify player age before registering. Fall Ball is more instructional and focuses on learning the game, building skills, and trying new positions. Player positions rotate so players get a better understanding of each position and learn what interests them to keep them engaged in baseball. Additionally, the Fall Ball season is shorter and runs from August to Early November with teams formed in early August, practices starting immediately, and games starting after Labor Day (9/2/19).
  • Why Fall Ball for my child?
    • Fall Ball is an instructional league for baseball, where practices and games are focused on teaching the fundamentals of batting, pitching, fielding and base running. Practices are one/two times per week (coach preference) with one weekday game and one weekend game.
    • Generally, those moving up to a new division benefit the most from Fall Ball (Farm to AA, AAA to Majors, Majors to Juniors) as those can be difficult transitions and the extra “season” provides a learning and instructional environment for them.
    • New players are exposed to baseball in a shorter season with a focus on position introduction. Many first-time players sign up for Fall Ball for the instructional exposure to baseball and the “relaxed” atmosphere.
  • What happens if our Fall Ball team doesn’t have a coach?
    • RLL always needs volunteers and coaching Fall Ball is a great way to start, even as an assistant coach. When registering, please consider signing up to volunteer in a coaching capacity, otherwise, the team may be disbanded if there is no coach. Should you have any questions regarding time commitments, please contact the league.
  • What if our Fall Ball team doesn’t have enough players?
    • The number of players on each team is dependent upon player registration. When the season nears, and we only have 5 players on a Minor AA team, that team may be separated with players routed to other divisions. Please spread the word to family and friends who might be interested in playing, especially new players. Your assistance in sharing information for Fall Ball is greatly appreciated and necessary to keep the Fall Ball season filled with players. Feel free to forward this communication and attached flyer to spread the word, or put your contacts in touch with RLL for more information.
